Telstra have taken a decision to remove the payphone in the red phone box in Station Street (adjacent to Bangalow Cellars) given low usage and damage to the phone box.
The phone box will be donated to the Bangalow Historical Society and re-located to the Heritage House museum for repair and display.
The Bangalow Chamber of Commerce has received a written assurance from Telstra that the other red phone box (outside the newsagency) will remain in service. The Chamber will fund some repairs and a re-paint in the near future.
Of the only eight red telephone boxes still remaining in NSW, Bangalow had two (one now a museum piece).
